This is a very solid Belgian Style Trippel Ale from New Belgium Brewing. With the white label, I wanted to approach photographing this beverage bottle in a high key style. Making sure you get enough light on the background is important, even if it is white. Not enough light and it will show as grey.
Death of the Fox
Death of the Fox is New Jersey’s first and only craft brewery and coffee rostery in Clarksboro New Jersey. Stop by for coffee in the mornings and beers in the afternoon and evenings. This photograph is a composite of two photographs. The firstI was in the tap room for the background and the second was of the beer and the crowler can in my studio.
It's pumpkin pie season
Fall is a great time of the year for food and one of the main reasons for that is pumpkin pie. That alone is worth the weather cooling down. I light this photograph with one light, camera left and a white card fill to the right. Yum!
St Louis Ribs
Ribs! Yes ribs! Finger licking good stuff right there. The way the light glistened off the side is fantastic.
Oktoberfest! Great beer, great party, great time of the year!
While I normally not crazy about malty forward beer, Octoberfest or marzan style beers are always a favorite. Maybe it’s because I just feel like I should drink them. With this photograph, I wanted to capture the essence of a German Octoberfest celebration. What better way to pair a pretzel with a stein of beer?
Anthony Bourdain's Macau-Style Pork Chop Sandwich (modified)
I’ve always been a big fan of Anthony Bourdain. I’ve read just about everything he wrote and watched every episode of every show. I was so excited to to get his cookbook Appetites and try out his recipes. This was a modification, based on ingredients I could find, on his Macau Style Pork Chop Sandwich. It was delicious. Needless to say, I was heartbroken when he left us. Way too early. RIP.
Homemade Soft Pretzels
Soft pretzels have always been a weakness of mine. All the way back to grammar school, I remember buying one after lunch for a quarter. Finding myself with a couple of hours to kill, I took a shot at making my own. They came out pretty good.
Jughandle Brewing Company
Jughandle is one of the closer local NJ breweries to my house. They make some real good brews and they are real good bunch of people. They’re doing what they love and doing a good job of it. When making this photograph of one of their beers, I wanted to make it look majestic. One of the best ways to do that is to get under it and shoot up at it. Anything you photograph from this angle will have a sense of power conveyed to it.
